Mounjaro (Tirzepatide) Weight Loss Medication/ Injection
Last Updated: Monday, 23 June 2025It has been reported in the media that the Mounjaro Weight Loss medication/ injection is now available from your GP practice. Currently GPs are unable to prescribe Mounjaro themselves in Cheshire & Merseyside (C&M), but should be able to refer eligible patients to a community setting once these have been set up by the C&M Integrated Care Board (ICB).
Please note that these are only currently to be made available to a very limited number of patients who meet strict criteria.
Patients are only eligible if they have a BMI of greater than 40 and at least 4 of the below 5 health issues have been diagnosed:
- High Blood Pressure (Hypertension)
- Cholesterol (Dyslipidaemia)
- Obstructive sleep apnoea
- Cardiovascular disease
- Type 2 diabetes
These are strict criteria and must be diagnosed, not suspected.
If you believe that you have met the above criteria and would like to request, please do so by submitting a Patchs request via this website, which will allow a clinician to check. PLEASE DO NOT CALL TO REQUEST AS THIS SHALL BLOCK OUR PHONE LINES FOR OTHER PATIENTS.
Please see the link to the right to be taken to the C&M ICB's website for further details:
